Professor and Writing Workshop Leader

I am a full professor (nonfiction) and Program Coordinator for the Writing Minors at Central Connecticut State University, which includes Creative Writing and Writing & Publishing. https://www.ccsu.edu/english/writingMinor/

In the summers I teach a nonfiction workshop for the Yale Summer Writing Program which draws adult students from around the world. https://summer.yale.edu/courses-programs/yale-writers-workshop

Prior to my position at CCSU, I taught for 12 years part-time at Johns Hopkins University’s MA in Writing program. I won the teaching award in that program and at CCSU.

Despite my full teaching load at CCSU, I also teach writing workshops at public libraries, for seniors and veterans and special sessions at conferences. Recent subjects include “Publishing 101,” “Writing Humor,” “Art of the Personal Essay,” “Art of Revision,” “Mixing Media, Mixing Genres,” and a general workshop on writing from first to third person in nonfiction.
