In 2015, West Hartford, CT, became one of the first communities in the U.S. to embrace the internationally acclaimed project, Cycling Without Age, which involves bringing elderly out and about in the community, especially those confined to their homes or facilities, via a bicycle rickshaw piloted by volunteers. CWA was started by Ole Kassow and imported from his native country of Denmark. Central Connecticut State University Writing About Health students created a book of stories to showcase the mental and physical health benefits of the CWA program.
